LIFE VERSES!

Kelly over at Kelly's Korner (see my link on the side) is hosting a "Show Us Your Life" event about favorite Bible verses.  I'm not sure I've ever shared mine on here before but I figured this is a GREAT way to get scripture out there, funny, we actually just talked about this in Bible Study this past week!  I am doing Anointed, Transformed, Redeemed by Priscilla Shirer, Beth Moore, and Kay Arthur - I urge you, if you have not taken this study to BEG your church to let your group do it next - it is AMAZING, LIFE-CHANGING, etc.

In other news, I have recently had the desire to paint more pics with scripture on them, so I'd love to know your fave verses too!  Here's mine!

Colossians 1:9-12 (New International Version)

9For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[a] to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.

and Jeremiah 29:11 (from memory)

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope!

These are great verses.

I did the Anointed Transformed and Redeemed study this past spring, and you are right - it is life changing. I hope you enjoy it and learn from it as much as I did!

Thank you for this post, Jara. I was feeling really blue tonight for some reason, but reading your verses and remembering mine made my heart glad!

Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

And further on in Romans 8: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

All of Psalm 139, like: "You knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.... All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."

Okay, last one... Isaiah 61: [Jesus will] comfort all who mourn and provide for those who grieve in Zion, to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."

Can you imagine being a mighty oak, your righteousness displaying God's splendor? It gives me chills.
